The two GOLD
WINNERS, TANDOORI PASTE and BRINJAL PICKLE were the outright winners
in their category when the results were announced following
preliminary judging in July 2007 at the Great Taste Awards judging
panel. The panel of judges was made up from key culinary 'movers and
shakers' and is valued in the industry as the perfect accolade to
have under one's belt.
Jai Chandarana
(M.D.) commented: "Yet again we are overwhelmed to be
recognized in this way and to be marked out from the key players by
virtue of our consistently superior quality and service delivery. We
have spent some considerable time and investment to get our products
right for the market and now the experts have acknowledged what we
have always believed to be so, that Simtom products are not only
superior in taste, but have demonstrated a consistent record of
recognition for success."
This is the
third year of entry into this competition and in 2005 their
specialist GOR KERI Pickle product won a Silver Award with a Bronze
Award going to their specialist SWEET MANGO CHUTNEY. In 2006 Simtom
won their first GOLD award for their SWEET LIME PICKLE.
The Award, run
by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers, recognizes quality of food &
the passion that goes into making it. Several thousand products were
entered in the competition across all the food categories
Simtom's
achievements prove yet again that the East Midlands are still a force
to contend with in the ethnic food market
