Babur is
London's best overall inexpensive restaurant (under £34 a head),
according to the 2009 Harden's London Restaurants. The guide's 18th
edition has just been published and is the largest annual survey of
its type, with over 8000 reporters contributing 85,000 individual reports.
The restaurant was rated 1
(Exceptional) for food and ambience. Harden's says: " 'You just
don't expect restaurants of this quality deep in SE London suburbia'
- this 'classy' modern Indian in Honor Oak Park, offers 'wonderfully
original' cuisine and 'exceptional' service."
Babur is currently celebrating
its 23rd anniversary with a tasting menu created to match five
exceptional wines, being served until 14 September. From 15
September, Babur will begin serving its new a la carte menu. There
will be a vegetarian sampler menu for Diwali.
