European Bangladesh Federation of Commerce and Industry ("EBF") to be launched in Brussels

 

 

Europeans of Bangladeshi origin (European Bangladeshis), may be found in all 27 EU Member States, and many have established substantial businesses operating within the Europe Union and between Europe and Bangladesh. In order to support and promote these business activities, a variety of individuals from both professional and business backgrounds have established the EBF, a trade forum.

Its official launch will be on Wednesday 8th October 2008 at 4pm ,premises of the Brussels Chamber of Commerce , Avenue Louise 500, Brussels 1050, the events being co-ordinated by Bangladesh Embassy, Brussels.

Brief History of EBF

EBF was established in early 20 08 as a not-for-profit association (under the laws of Belgium) by individuals from professional and business backgrounds from across Europe. They have enjoyed continuing support and co-operation from the Bangladesh Ambassador to Brussels (HE AHM Moniruzzaman) and other Ambassadors from Bangladesh throughout Europe, MEPs (including Nirj Deva and former Vice President of the European Parliament David Martin) & Former British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Peter J Fowler CMG. The organisation's key aims include:

(1) Promoting commerce and industry between the EU and Bangladesh;

 (2) Promoting commerce and industry amongst the Bangladeshi dia spora within the EU and between EU Member States;

(3) Providing a network and resource facility for the business community of Bangladeshi origin/interest; and

(4) Setting up of chambers or similar entities within each of the 27 EU countries.

 They have already taken significant steps towards establishing EBF chambers in six Member States, including the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy and Greece. They are currently reviewing potential for EBF chambers in Ireland, Belgium, Sweden and Spain.
