As the
nights start to draw in and children return to school you might want
to look for slow cooked casseroles which take little preparation and
quick puddings using seasonal ingredients. Development Chef Paul
Wharrier has created a selection of Autumnal recipes using TOTAL
Greek Yoghurt which work equally well on the family supper table or
for a more formal dinner with friends. Choose from Greek Lamb Shank
with Tomatoes and Garlicky Yoghurt, Penne with Wild Mushrooms, Slow
Cooked Chicken Casserole or Vegetarian Chick Pea Curry. For dessert
Harry Eastman has created this quick Crème Brulee or Easy
Peasy Mince Pies. Finally what could be more delicious on a blustery
Sunday morning than a freshly baked Apple and Cinnamon Muffin.
TOTAL Greek
Yoghurt is available in three variants 0%, 2% and Classic. Thick,
cream and natural TOTAL is a versatile fridge essential. Delicious
for breakfast with muesli and fruit but it can also be used in
cooking to give a rich creamy taste and texture with a much lower fat
content than cream.
TOTAL Greek
Yoghurt is an ideal ingredient for use in cooking. It can be heated
without it splitting (although not recommended for TOTAL 0%) and is
considerably lower in fat than cream. It can also be stirred into a
curry to take the spicy heat out for those who prefer a milder
flavour. For more ideas visit www.totalgreekyoghurt.com
HEARTY
HALLOWEEN FOOD AND A HILARIOUS WITCHES BREW
Cooking for
the family on Halloween needs to be easy and delicious, especially if
the children are itching to go out trick or treating. A slow cooked
chicken curry made with TOTAL Greek Yoghurt takes just a few minutes
to prepare and then it can be left in the oven for 2 ½ hours to
slowly cook. The subtle spicy flavours and meltingly tender chicken
make it an easy and warming dish for the whole family. Serve with
rice. Whilst it is cooking make this fun Witches Brew guaranteed to
have the whole family screaming in horror.
Witches Brew
Prepare the
curry recipe and pop it in the oven. Whilst it is cooking make this
great witches brew and watch your children and friends scream as you
drink it. You need to let one person in on the deception so that they
agree to drink the brew "you made earlier". When no one is
looking mix up a potion using apple juice, TOTAL Greek Yoghurt, bits
of carrot and apple, some food colouring and maybe a few blueberries
- blend gently leaving some lumps - the resulting mixture should look
revolting but will taste delicious. Make sure no-one sees you making
it and pop it in the fridge.
In an
identical container to the one in the fridge gather your friends and
children to make up a "real" witches brew. Use dish water,
a spoonful of yoghurt, some dead flies, a few scraps from the bin and
maybe even the odd bogey - try and make it a similar colour to the
ready made brew. Blend the mixture and ask for a volunteer to drink
it - everyone will say no but you and your accomplice. Create a small
diversion and switch the brews in the fridge so that you can both
drink the brew you made earlier. Enjoy as you watch your family and
friends reel in horror as you drink. Come clean only if you want to!
